The 9th Incheon Open Port International Photography Festival- “Beyond the Tide” opened its doors by transforming the maritime city of Incheon into an international crossroads of photographic languages, environmental reflections, and cultural dialogue. In this edition, which reaffirms the festival’s role as a global platform for contemporary photography, the presence of Italian artist Roberto Pestarino stands out prominently within the prestigious International Photo Exchange Exhibition of 11 Countries: Ocean and Environment. La manifestazione, radicata nella profonda identità storica e portuale di Incheon, si propone come unosservatorio privilegiato sulle trasformazioni degli oceani e sugli ecosistemi minacciati. Il Direttore Esecutivo Lim Sang-seob ha sottolineato come l’obiettivo del festival sia quello di portare alla luce le criticità ambientali che l’umanità sta affrontando- dalla crisi climatica all’inquinamento marino, fino alle minacce alla biodiversità- esplorando un futuro sostenibile di coesistenza tra uomo e oceano. Rooted in Incheon’s deep historical and maritime identity, the festival serves as a privileged observatory on the transformations of the oceans and endangered ecosystems. Executive Director Lim Sang-seob emphasized that the aim of the festival is to shed light on the environmental challenges humanity is facing-from the climate crisis to marine pollution and threats to biodiversity-while exploring a sustainable future of coexistence between humans andthe ocean.
